WorldCell to Introduce Technology to Reduce Cost of International Roaming

Silver Spring, MD–July 1, 2005 – WorldCell announced today that it has filed a patent and will operationalize technology designed to reduce the cost of international roaming.  Currently, international roamers get charged for incoming calls which are diverted to voicemail, and WorldCell’s technology is designed to eliminate these charges.

“A little known fact in international roaming is that roamers may get charged roaming as well as international call charges when an incoming call is diverted to voicemail” stated Lokdeep Singh, WorldCell’s Director of Engineering.  “Our data suggests that 15-20% of international roaming calls get diverted in such a fashion.  It can be difficult for customers to understand why they are being charged for calls they do not actually answer.  Our patent and our technology is designed to eliminate these charges.”

WorldCell intends to make this technology available to its international roamers utilizing its Viking SIM, as well as to its carrier partners which utilize its RSB Ltd. subsidiary’s Interstandard Roaming Platform later this year.
